Dante

Guitar and Vocals

Dante has always had a passion for music his whole life but never had the opportunity to play in a band, even though he always wanted to. He took his first guitar lesson at 38 and was hooked. So, at the age of 59, with the help of some friends, he decided to start his first band. When Dante is not playing music, he is a senior vice president of a global investment firm. Dante has three children and two grandchildren who live in Atlanta, GA.

Kari Melissa

Vocals

Kari Melissa was a professional singer and actress for a decade in Los Angeles before deciding to make the move to Florida in 2008. Kari has extensive background and experience with session work, performing in a variety of style venues, and working with recording professionals. When Kari is not rocking it out on stage, she is a group fitness trainer and a “super mom” to four beautiful children.

Randy Hess

Guitar

Randy Hess is a lifelong lover of music and began playing the guitar at the age of 12. Randy and his friends formed the band known as the “Foggiest Notion” in the late ’60s. The band played classic rock hits by Santana, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, and The Animals and entertained at private house parties, charity events, and swim club parties.

In the early ’70s, Randy joined a group known as “The Gathering.” “The Gathering” was a rock and roll trio who toured the Midwest and East Coast playing the Holiday Inn Lounge circuit. Towards the end of the seventies, Randy played jazz and standards with a band called “Of a Crystal Nature.”

Ultimately, his career as a real estate broker and business coach got in the way of music and he stopped playing altogether. Upon retirement to Florida in 2017, Randy renewed his passion for playing lead guitar and music and became a founding member of the Shore ‘Nuff band.

Doug Newland

Keyboards

Doug is a late bloomer. His musical inspiration dates back to childhood and a mom who taught piano. He picked up the guitar at Cass Tech High School, in Detroit Michigan, and made $10 playing in a coffee house. Early musical inspirations were Peter Paul and Mary, Ricky Nelson, The Beatles, John Denver, and Jim Croche. He missed out on Pink Floyd and the Eagles while attending college and neurology residency at the University of Michigan, in the late ‘60s to late ‘70s. He also went to medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit.

While lost in an over 40-year neurology practice in Fort Myers, FL since 1979, he took some opera, voice, and guitar lessons. He sang at four weddings.

He and his lovely wife, Sherry, moved to an Estero, FL community five years ago. Much to Sherry's credit, he met several musical friends who got together and became part of a neighborhood garage band composed of people all living on the same street.

Since retirement in February of 2020, he finally has had a chance to regrow his hair long, spend time with his family, advance his tennis and golf skills, and especially, develop keyboard, guitar, and vocal interests. The band has since expanded beyond the neighborhood to downtown Music Walks and other gigs. With great musical friends and true talent, this is the real deal!

Dave Marcantonio

Bass Guitar

Dave moved to Southwest Florida with his wife in 2013 from Connecticut. He was a premier DJ for 23 years performing in front of thousands of people at various private events. He started playing bass guitar at the age of 15 for some of the area’s largest bands in the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. Throughout his career, Dave has played with multiple bands in the northeast from classic rock to southern rock to rhythm and blues. In the early 1980s, Dave had the pleasure of working with John Cougar Mellencamp’s band as a sound technician and backup bass player.

Today, Dave enjoys playing classic rock with the Shore 'Nuff Band. He has several vintage Fender bass guitars and uses Orange and DNA bass amplification.

Frank Avey

Drums and Percussion

Frank is a Canadian expatriate who moved to Southwest Florida full-time in 1994. He was recruited by Doug Newland to play in the Shore ‘Nuff Band near the beginning of their formation. Frank is a Family Physician who lives in Fort Myers, FL with his wife Maryse. They have four sons and seven grandchildren.

Frank started drumming in high school and played in several wedding and bar bands as a teenager and into his 20s. He also played percussion in a symphony orchestra, in concert bands, in a marching band, and for a theater ensemble. He was influenced by classic rock, blues, and jazz artists such as Neil Young, CCR, The Guess Who, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Chuck Mangione.

Frank stopped drumming for a while to complete medical school and raise his family but got the bug again a few years ago after his kids left home to attend college. He also drums and sings backup vocals for Hit N Runn, a Southwest Florida Rotary music fellowship band, and he sometimes plays at his church for special events. He is thrilled to be performing live music again with the Shore 'Nuff Band.
